Aventura OKs further delay in impact fees

The Aventura City Commission has unanimously approved a second delay in implementing the transportation mitigation impact fee it approved last year.

The levy on new projects was to take effect Jan. 1 but had been delayed to April 1. At the April 14 commission meeting, a further delay to Sept. 30 was adopted on first reading. It was approved unanimously again on second reading May 5.

The sagging economy was blamed for both delays in implementing the levy on new projects.

At the same meetings, the commission unanimously approved a tweak to its mid-year operating and capital budgets to reflect the change in anticipated revenue.

There was no discussion among commissioners and no public comment offered before the vote at either meeting.
