Hold that ‘acting’ title.

Patrick “Rick” Conner will become the city manager of Sunny Isles Beach on Monday.

The city commission approved the promotion of Conner June 18 after about five months as acting city manager. Conner, the former city public works director, stepped in last January when A. John Szerlag exited after less than three years as the city's chief administrative officer.

In his new position, Conner will earn $175,000 and have nine months’ severance pay should the commission ever change its mind.
