Local schools shine on state report card
It was all A's for the three elementary schools in Aventura and Sunny Isles Beach when the state Department of Education released its annual school report card June 17.
But the area's high school -- Dr. Michael M. Krop -- slid a notch to a B grade. Last year, Krop scored an A after recording a C in 2007.
Aventura Waterways, Aventura City of Excellence Charter School and Sunny Isles Beach Community School each received an A for overall performance. For ACES, it was a continuation of A performances. The grades for Waterways and Community were the first recorded for the new schools.
As a district, Miami-Dade scored a B. Overall, 210 schools in the district scored an A, up from 171 a year ago. There were 13 schools in the district that received F grades.
