Vehicle thieves hit three times

Two cars and a motorcycle were stolen from Aventura parking lots this week.

Andres Pineda, a valet parking attendant at Aventura Hospital, told police an unknown woman stole his 1993 Honda Civic from its parking spot at the hospital. Pineda said he kept the car running so that he could utilize the air conditioning between parking runs. While he was attending to a client, he saw the woman run across the lot, jump in the car and drive off toward East Dixie Highway.

Janai Hernandez of Aventura told police she parked her tan 2006 Jeep in the Aventura Mall lot near the Food Court. When she came back, it was gone. She told police a 17-inch Apple laptop computer, clothing and jewelry with a total value of $2,700 were in the vehicle.

Aldo Enderica of Aventura told police he'd parked his 2009 Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the lot at The Waterways Shoppes while he went into a restaurant. When he returned, the $13,000 vehicle was gone.

Neighbors foil break-in

A neighbor called police when he saw two men cutting a screen and entering an enclosed balcony at Lincoln Point on NE 31 Street Court.

Officers and a police dog checked the area and found no evidence of entry to the unit. They photographed the damage and notified the unit owner.

Two woman held in shoplifting

Two women from Argentina were arrested on felony theft counts after Bloomingdale's security spotted them concealing clothing in shopping bags and a baby stroller.

Security personnel held the pair until police arrived. None of the merchandise, valued at $2,682, left the store.
