The Miami Herald takes a long look at 'How Jeff Soffer's Vegas gamble went sour' in its July 5 editions.

The piece is part profile of the scion of the family that built Aventura, part name-dropping Las Vegas social column and part business story. Soffer declined to be interviewed but did allow new photos to be shot, an interesting PR approach.

While the story never gets much past the obvious -- Soffer's Fontainebleu Las Vegas project is poorly timed, costs too much and lacks buyers for its 1,000 luxury condo-hotel units -- it's a pleasant Sunday read in the best tradition of long-form newspaper writing.
