Condo tower has Chinese drywall problems

A two-year-old Aventura condominium tower is a victim of Chinese drywall, WPLG-TV reports.

Almost three-quarters of the units -- 154 out of 230 -- in Peninsula II were built using the toxic wallboard that corrodes electrical and plumbing fixtures. Common areas apparently are not effected.

City building officials told WPLG that the drywall would be removed and the building re-inspected.

The report said the building, located on NE 183rd Street overlooking the bay, is less than half occupied with units listing for $600,000 to $1.2 million.
