Police arrest woman who ran from fatal crash; bond set for man
The woman who fled the scene of a fatal auto crash in North Miami Beach Aug. 3 has been arrested, police said Aug. 6
The arrest of Keenya Young came Thursday, a day after her accused accomplice in a robbery at Macy’s in Aventura Mall won a victory in court. The two were escaping from the scene of that crime Sunday when the collision occurred at the intersection of NE 179th Street and NE 15th Avenue
County Circuit Court Judge Jorge E. Cueto rebuffed efforts to charge Exzavier Robinson with murder in connection with the crash that killed a Bryant Security employee and left another hospitalized. Cueto agreed with Robinson’s attorneys that the crash was not related to the robbery at Macy’s because there was no police chase involved. That cleared the way for charging Robinson with vehicular manslaughter and setting bond at $37,500.
Police declined to discuss details of the arrest of Young, 31, of Miramar. They’d been hunting her since she ran from the scene of the crash and her picture had been widely displayed.
