Neville Brothers to headline SIB Jazz Fest

The Sunny Isles Beach Jazz Fest is moving up.

For its second iteration, the city that bills itself as Florida’s Riviera is turning to New Orleans for its headline act – The Neville Brothers.

Nicole Henry, a hit at last year’s inaugural event, also returns.

The Jazz Fest spans the weekend of Oct. 16-18 and draws both locals and tourists to the city’s 2.5 miles of beach.

The Neville Brothers – Charles, Aaron, Art and Cyril – are known as New Orleans’ First Family of Funk. Since the ‘50s, they’ve made music in a variety of formations and under a host of different names. As the Neville Brothers, they’ve been together for 28 years making hits, winning Grammy awards and fans far beyond New Orleans.

The brothers just kicked off a national tour that includes stops in Stuart’s Lyric Theatre on Oct. 16 and the Clearwater Jazz Holiday on Oct. 18.

The City of Sunny Isles Beach is the primary sponsor of the Jazz Fest in partnership with the Sunny Isles Beach Resort Association. The list of corporate sponsors reads like a who’s who among beach resorts: Le Meridien, Acqualina, Trump International and St. Tropez. Media sponsors include Atlantic Broadband Television, The Miami Herald, Around Town magazine and radio stations WDNA and WLRN. And the Resort Association is looking for more.

The event benefits Joshua's Heart Foundation (www.joshuasheart.org), a local charity that fights hunger and works to break the cycle of poverty.
