Mass transit workshops coming to area

What would it take to get you to become a mass transit regular?

Tri-Rails' north-south commuter strategy apparently didn't hit a chord with many of us. How about a line down the existing tracks just west of US 1?  Might be good for Aventura Mall.

Or maybe the answer is simply 'as long as I can drive, never.'

Regional planners want to know. Ultimately, it's our tax dollars at work.

The South Florida East Coast Corridor Study is working on a master plan and is conducting a series of public workshops. Two are in the area:

* From 6-8 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Hallandale Beach Cultural Center, 410 SE 3rd St.

* From 6-8 p.m. Oct. 19 at the McDonald Center, 17051 NE 19th Ave. in North Miami Beach.

Presentations are continuous and planners will be on hand to talk about possible station locations, railroad crossing, noise levels and other environmental impacts.
