An Aventura-based investment company may not be the largest victim in the meltdown of Scott Rothstein's hedge fund, but it is the first to file suit against the Fort Lauderdale attorney.

The Sun-Sentinel quotes Alexandra Sanchez, attorney representing FDS Investments USA LLC, as saying: "We have very little sense (of what's happening) other than clearly something has gone very wrong." The suit estimates losses at $3 million. The hedge fund scandal is expected to involve hundreds of millions of dollars of total losses.

FDS Investments USA lists its address as 2875 NE 191st St., Suite 801, Aventura. In documents filed with the state in July, FDS lists Daneil Serber and Sergio Waissmann as managers.
