Psst! Aventura agent selling space travel — really

An Aventura travel advisor has won an honor that's out of this world -- quite literally.

On Dec. 7, Beverly Rother of Forest Travel Agency on 186th Street will be among a hand-picked audience in California's Mojave Desert for the debut of SpaceShipTwo, the craft designed to carry commercial passengers into space. Virgin Founder and Chairman Sir Richard Branson and famed aircraft designer Burt Rutan will be the hosts.

Rother is one of just 50 travel advisors on the invitation list, a tribute to her standing as a Virgin Galactic Accredited Space Agent. She completed intensive product training with Virgin Galactic in order to provide the highly specialized information required for the unique offering of space travel.

Rother is a member of Virtuoso, a luxury travel network comprised of more than 330 agencies with 6,000  advisors in 22 countries. Virtuoso is the exclusive retail travel agency network for Virgin Galactic throughout The Americas.

SpaceShipTwo is based on the design of SpaceShipOne, the vehicle that completed three successful spaceflights in 2004, claiming the $10 million Ansari X-Prize. It immediately will embark on an extensive test flight regime. Approximately 300 people from around the world have paid nearly $40 million in deposits to guarantee an early seat on SpaceShipsTwo's voyages.
