Police shoot suspect in ‘road rage’ incident at mall
A 23-year-old man is in a Hollywood hospital after police say he traded gunfire with police investigating what they are describing as a case of 'road rage' at Aventura Mall Dec. 26.
But CBS4 television news is quoting a witness who disputes the police version of events, saying the only shots he heard were fired by police.
The incident started about 4 p.m. when police say they saw Audley Clarke point a gun at another vehicle as he drove his Mustang near the mall. A chase ensued and police were able to stop the Mustang on a mall service road. The suspect then jumped out of the car and fled on foot into a parking garage. Police say he fired at officers who then returned fire.
Clarke is listed in stable condition at Memorial Hopital.
